A family Christmas

A family affair

Christmas is traditionally a time for family and Jenkins & Son is a fine example of a family business.

Darren Jenkins is the fourth generation of Jenkins to run Jenkins & Son of Deal. His great-grandfather Charlie started the business, which was a horse and cart in those days. His grandfather, also Charlie, took over the running of the business, which by then had grown into two shops, followed by his son Steve, Darren’s late Dad.

Darren has been working in the shop since he was a nipper and now runs the business out of the Deal High Street shop, aided by his sister Michelle - so it is a truly family affair!

We came across some lovely photographs of the shop in Christmases past which brought back many happy memories. We thought you would enjoy them to so here they are.

Here’s another of Charlie at work in the shop, with plenty of tinsel to add some Christmas sparkle!
